Types and Selection of Electric Valves

Types of electric valves

The electric valve is a valve driven by electric energy and is mainly composed of the electric actuator and various valves. The electric valve is easy to use, and it can run when the switch is turned on, so it is the most commonly used automatic control valve. There are many types of electric valves, including electric control valves, electric ball valves, electric butterfly valves, electric gate valves, electric stop valves, etc. Different types of electric valves have different applications.

1. The electric control valve: It can be selected with different valve structures and valve cores according to the medium under working conditions. This valve is mainly suitable for high, medium and low pressure pipes to adjust pipeline parameters. With the increasing degree of modern industrial automation, electric control valves are more and more widely used. Electric control valves with different materials can be suitable for pipes carrying various liquids and gases.

2. Electric ball valves and electric butterfly valves are the most widely used electric valves. They are equipped with different actuators. They can be used for occasions where the linearity control requirement is not too strict. And the electric butterfly valve has two types of end connections, i.e., wafer type and flange type. They are mostly used for the pipeline with normal pressure and large diameter. The use of electric ball valves and electric butterfly valves is similar.

3. Both of the electric gate valve and the electric stop valve can shut off the flow of liquids rather than for flow regulation. They are suitable for the pipe with large diameter.

Selection of electric valves

Electric valves are usually driven by motors. Since the motors need to be decelerated to drive the valves, it is generally not recommended to use electric valves if it is required to quickly open and close the valve. Basically, electromagnetic quick closing valves, pneumatic or hydraulic quick closing valves can be selected. However, if the electric valve is needed, the electric butterfly valve or the electric ball valve should be selected because they have a short opening and closing stroke.
